As Jacobs asserts, the decline of cities is primarily due to its success. She often exercised terms such as self-destructing, sorting-out, and competition to describe what we now call gentrification. This was 60 years ago. This thesis searches for actions to be taken that aid - not solve - the stabilization of declining cities. Through a mixed-use development determined through literature, precedents, research, and implementation, the self destruction of urban environments can be assisted through the following thoughtful architecture.
